Get Weird With the Age of Aquarius Cocktail
Any person who looks through the dossier of my life will find that from childhood to this day, in papers such as report cards, teacher notes, transcripts, correspondence, psychologist notes, notes of school giggles, staff testimonials, and greeting cards, there are these words: Unusual. Different. Peculiar. Bizarre. Unconventional. Strange. “Unique.” strange. Strange. Bizarre. eccentric. Unusual. You know, STRANGE. Even my ESL parents, whose native language doesn’t even contain a phonetic W, switched to English only to use the adjective whenever I confused them. – Why are you so weird ?
Short answer: I’m an Aquarius.
Aquarians are associated with change, the future, rebellion, revolution, innovation, the rise of humanity to higher vibrational ascensions and yaddah yaddah yaddah. Even though he is an Aquarius of the Zodiac, is he really an air sign??? Yeah, that’s Aquarius shit; characterized by what is outside the box (or jar), or any annoying contradiction. “Love mankind; I hate people.” This is the slogan of Aquarius. The most open-minded and judgmental people you’ll meet: The man who brought the communist manifesto as a gift to your baby’s birthday party and weed marmalade to your parents’ dinner party. We only go to weddings to dance at the reception, we don’t really care about the ceremony. We have great ideas!… If only someone else would do the job. But all that aside, in the end, distill any Aquarius into its purest form and you have 100% real weirdo.
A couple of years ago, I noticed that the Age of Aquarius drink I created was featured on a YouTube channel about craft cocktails called The Educated Regular. The first line of the accompanying blog post reads: “The origin of this cocktail is a mystery…” Which makes me happy because I want to be anonymously famous. In the video, the gentleman making the drink is very kind and complimentary, but I smiled to myself when he said that the taste of the cocktail is one he will never forget and has never tasted before. The most flattering iteration of the other. Unusual. Strange.
