Teenage culture can be depressing, dark and meaningless, whether we’re talking hopeful movements falling apart for no reason, bullying game show winners, or dark teen TV dramas.
What to watch: “Euphoria” or “Yellow Vests”?
There are two ways Hollywood tells stories about teenagers. There are those that look back at the vagaries of youth through a lens of gentle irony, like ” Freaks and Geeks ,” and those that take the inflated emotions of teenagers seriously, like “Dawson’s Creek.” Yellow jackets are freaks and geeks, but with cannibalism . Euphoria is Dawson’s Creek , but with nudity and drugs. Both are really well written, compelling and beautifully filmed. If you are the type of person who thinks, “Oh, the first day of school is hard? Try to pay your mortgage.” See Yellow jackets . If you want to see teenage life in America just before the apocalypse, and you can stomach the stories that kids today have invented sex, drugs, and angst, you’ll love Euphoria .
Reddit anti-work board melted down
Back in November, I wrote about the burgeoning anti-work advice on Reddit and young idealists supporting the movement to raise wages and improve conditions for workers. The subreddit has grown to over 1.7 million members, but it has completely collapsed this week. One of the moderators decided to appear on Fox News to give an interview to Jesse Watters, and to say that it was a train wreck is an insult to both trains and the wreck. I don’t want to further judge the poor moderator who must have had a really bad week, so I’ll just link to the video and let you judge. The response from members of the subreddit was harsh, and many users were banned for criticizing the moderator. The subroutine was closed, reopened with a suspicious “new” moderator, which was then not modified, and people left in droves. There are a million posts about the situation and many attempts by the moderators to apologize and “rebuild”. This is all very sad. Sorry workers.
Poop targeted at teen Jeopardy winners
Sometimes the Internet serves to reinforce the worst instincts of teenagers. Case in point: Jeopardy Teen Tournament contestant Claire Sattler (@clairesat) recently posted a video on TIkTok in which she reveals that her game show win resulted in legions of online men stalking her, stalking her, suggesting she was sleeping with Alex Trebek for answers, and otherwise be unbearable. Other young members of Jeopardy noted that they too were targeted. “I was on Kids’ Jeopardy! and they really tried to sexualize me and diagnose me at 11,” contestant Aria Gerson (@not_like_stark) said. Tiny TikToklets to enjoy
Children’s Internet is not only about cyberbullying and public scandals. On the other hand, TikTok is great for letting people with obscure interests and tastes find like-minded people. Here are three communities that can be your life (if you like this kind of thing).

You’ll find videos of all sorts of weird cleaning jobs, like removing bees from a washing machine, satisfying clips of dirty screens of electronic devices , and gloomy clips of washing gravestones . It’s very relaxing.
- Eggpeelchallenge : Look, I’m not going to waste time trying to peel a raw egg without tearing the bag inside, but I welcome other people who at least have a hobby.Check out these egg peel test videos and then try it yourself; shit is hard.
- Plogging : Plogging delightfully combines fitness and cleaning up after the sluts of society. The idea is that you go for a run and stop to pick up trash along the way, making your workout selfless and adding variety to an often exhausting pastime.
- Phases of the Moon : The moon is trending on TikTok and users are figuring out what phase it was in when they were born and imagining it means something to themselves. Children, am I right?
