The Fastest Way to Edit Audio From Your IPhone or Mac

Trimming audio on an iPhone is surprisingly difficult, but doing it on a Mac is surprisingly easy. Although the QuickTime app has a dedicated audio trimming tool, there is no such option on the iPhone and iPad. Of course, there is a built-in Voice Memos app, but it doesn’t support editing external audio files. Regardless, you can still trim an audio file in just a couple of minutes – with the Audio Trimmer app.

How to Trim Audio on iPhone with the Audio Trimmer App

If you’re looking for a simple voice memo style app just for audio trimming, check out the aptly named Audio Trimmer app for iPhone. At the time of writing, it was a free app, but it will soon be paid.

The app is easy to use: open it, select an audio file in the Files app, and use the yellow bars to cut (or reduce) the sound. Click the ” Trim ” button and the app will automatically save a copy of the edited audio file in the same location as the original audio.

How to trim audio using the QuickTime app on Mac

If you’re on a Mac, the easiest way is to use the built-in QuickTime player: Locate the audio file in the Finder app, right-click, and under ” Open With ” select the ” QuickTime Player ” app. .

The audio will open in the QuickTime application; in the Edit section, click Trim (you can also use the keyboard shortcut Command + T ). Now you can use the yellow icons on the steering wheel to cut the sound. When you’re done, choose File > Save to save the cut audio back to the Finder app.
