6 Smart Ways to Use Beeswax in Your Home

For the repair and maintenance of tools and furniture, beeswax is a versatile, natural and low-waste option that can be used as a lubricant, protective coating and sealant. It conditions the cutting boards and helps prevent rusting of the tools.

However, before you start melting the beeswax to solve your to-do list, remember that whatever you melt it in will likely stay waxed for life. Use a double boiler to melt the wax evenly without exceeding its relatively low boiling point. (You can make your own steamer by donating a mason jar or clean coffee can and placing it in a pot of water to heat up.) Be careful with hot wax – wear gloves and cover your forearms to protect your skin – as it can stick to the skin, causing particularly painful burns.
