12 Peacock Originals You Must See

Peacock only launched last July, thanks in large part to the promise of relaunches of The Office , but it also allowed NBCUniversal to leverage the power and checkbook to create reliable original content (“create” is in some cases a euphemism for “import”). While the library of originals is relatively small, there is an impressive amount of variety in what is out there: not only in terms of style and genre, but also in on-screen and off-screen presentation. One can be a little cynical about positioning a Peacock show about, say, an all-Muslim punk band or an indigenous cultural center in a small town on a new streaming service rather than its cousin on the television network; but on the other hand, streaming is clearly the future, and the fact that the network expects these shows to entice people to pay for their new streamer is promising.

By the way, Peacock now has both paid and free tiers. All of these shows are at least free to listen to, but for some you will need to update if you want to watch more recent episodes. Here are some of the best things from Peacock’s first year.
