Update Google Chrome Immediately
Security vulnerabilities are an inevitable part of digital life. Google recently spotted 11 for Chrome, two of which are freely available and active, and released a hotfix immediately. Thus, you should update as soon as possible.
What to do about these Google Chrome vulnerabilities?
On Monday September 13th, Google released a security update for Chrome that fixed 11 known issues, including two that the company identified as actively exploited zero-day vulnerabilities. This means that attackers exploited two of these vulnerabilities without the knowledge of Google or other relevant actors.
Google says “anonymous researchers” are responsible for reporting these two critical errors to the company. The reports that were received prior to September 8, clearly explained that the vulnerability called CVE-2021-30632 and CVE-2021-30633, operated by recording outside in the V8 and use after free use Indexed DB API. The new update that fixes these issues is version 93.0.4577.82.
How do I update Chrome to fix these vulnerabilities?
It is possible that Chrome has updated automatically in the background, so these fixes may already be installed. Otherwise, your browser may display a refresh button in one of the following three colors:
- Green: The update was released less than 2 days ago.
- Orange: The update was released about 4 days ago.
- Red: The update was released at least a week ago.
At the time of this posting, the update is fairly new so you should only see a green button. In the future, you may see one of the other two colors.
To update, click the More button (three vertical dots) on the menu bar. If an update is available, click Update Google Chrome . If you don’t see this option, Google tells you that your browser is completely up to date. But there is another way to double-check and also confirm which version of Chrome you are using:

Go back to the More button, click Help and select About Google Chrome . You will see your current version of Chrome while the app searches for all available updates. If available, you can follow the onscreen instructions to install it from here. Please be aware that the new version is 93.0.4577.82.
