How to Bulk Delete Emails in Gmail
I recently received a notification that my Gmail account is 90% full. I thought it was impossible because there should be unlimited space in Gmail. Then I remembered that I had an account from 2008 and I never deleted old unnecessary emails. If you are on the same boat (more and more), here are the steps to bulk delete old emails in Gmail.
In the top search bar, enter “Label: All Mail” and the search parameter filters will appear below the search bar. You can use these dropdowns to filter emails by time frame (in my case, before 2014, since life didn’t start earlier than I was 20), specific senders (for example, a specific newsletter or organization of which you are a member are no longer.) or something with an attachment (to free up that valuable storage space).
After narrowing down the options, click the box in the upper left corner to select all of the displayed emails. If you have more than 50 emails (which you and will), click “select all conversations matching this search” so you don’t just delete the emails that appear on the first page of results. Then click the trash can icon.
Gmail keeps items in the trash for 30 days and then deletes them permanently. If you need space sooner, you can go to the trash can and immediately delete all items permanently.
