What’s New at HBO Max in September 2021
HBO Max announced plans this month to overhaul its extremely terrible app , which is good not only because you can load your watchlist or fast-forward 10 seconds without overheating the Roku, but also because there is no reason for it all the time Interesting streaming service with maximum benefit for himself, he should be known first of all for his crappy UX .
I mean, just look at the September ministry reward. Concurrently, another theatrical / streaming premiere will take place in Malignant (September 10), a new horror film by James Wang ( The Conjuring and More) about a woman who begins to experience nightmares filled with blood and murder that turn out to be much more than dreams … Even approaching 92 years old, Clint Eastwood is still puffing, pretending to be films your daddy loves; HBO Max will air Cry Macho , a new Mexican immigration film based on the 1975 novel, on September 17. The movie has reportedly been in the making for over 30 years and the trailer clearly shows that fact.
Several other recent theatrical releases – Mortal Kombat (September 9), Those Who Wish Me Death (September 30) – are also returning from a limited-time premiere. We’re also finally far enough away from the wasteland that was the 2020 film release calendar, and some really great films from the past year are making it to the rotation too, including the Oscar-nominated World News (September 4) and Promising Young Woman ( September 25).
Then there is Max Originals – the streamer hasn’t gotten as much attention with his TV offerings, but he does have a few good things, including a limited series remake of Igmar Bergman’s classic film in Scenes From a Marriage (12 September), which depicts the breakup of the couple who played by Oscar Isaac and Jessica Chastain (and if these two great specimens of humans can’t survive, what is there for all of us to hope for?). There’s also another Adventure Time movie (September 2) and the launch of the third season of Doom Patrol (September 23), the best superhero show on television. Ellen DeGeneres, Little Ellen (September 13), which I can only guess, introduced production method until May 2021 .
Here’s a list of everything HBO Max is coming (and going) in September 2021. Titles with (HBO) next to them are available on HBO and HBO Max; everything else is exclusive to HBO Max.
