Two Ways to Make Your IPhone Stop Diving
Maybe our phones are trying to do us a favor by being polite, but heck, they really love trying to keep us from swearing, don’t they? If you’re not actually going to jokingly tell your friends to “dodge” on a regular basis, there are several ways to fix the sometimes useful and often annoying iOS AutoCorrect feature – and they work for more than just your popular curses.
Make your phone stop ducking by adding a new contact
The quickest and dirtiest way to add your favorite curses to the Messages autocorrect dictionary is to add a new contact with the words you want to learn on your phone. For example, on Twitter, Stephen Thrasher suggests adding someone named “Fuck Fucker” to your contact list (you can even name someone you hate, like your landlord if you like). Just open the Contacts app and tap the “+” in the corner to add a new contact (no need to provide a fake number or email address – you can just save the word itself). If you want to be careful, go ahead and add whatever options you can think of, like “Fucked Fucking” or any other curses you like that often contradict the AutoCorrect filter. Of course, you can also use this technique to include frequently automatically corrected words that aren’t swear words, from working jargon to your dog’s weird name, to fake nouns from video games or movies.
Swear more by adding text replacements to your iPhone
If you want to tackle the problem differently – and not clutter your contact list with a bunch of fake NSFW people – you can also directly edit the dictionary your iPhone uses when unpacking the abbreviations commonly used in text messages. To add words to the text replacement dictionary, open Settings and swipe down to General> Keyboard> Text Replacement , then tap the + in the corner to open a page where you can add new entries sorted alphabetically. This function is actually meant to create shortcuts to replace text – for example, you can write “omv” to quickly send “on the way” – but you can also just add complete words like “fuck” or “shit” or something else that you wear. I don’t want your phone to be fixed for you.
Just turn off auto-correction
Of course, the easiest way to unbridled insults – completely disable the function of AutoCorrect messages – iPhone users will also find this option in the “Settings”> “General”> “Keyboard”, but this strategy is not for the faint of heart (or thick). fingers).
