What’s New on Netflix July 2021
As a kid in the 80s, I was obsessed with Hye-Man and the Masters of the Universe – I vividly remember being three and arguing with my mom about whether Eternia’s greatest hero wore pajamas before bed (luckily the dude did wear a diaper). With that in mind, you would think I’d be in awe of Masters of the Universe: Revelation , the Netflix reboot of the toy animated series, especially since it comes from certified 80s fan Kevin Smith and has a stellar cast including Chris Wood as He-Man, Mark Hamill as Skeletor, and Sarah Michelle Gellar, Lena Headey and Stephen Ruth. But that was before Isaw the trailer . Not that it looked bad – it actually looks pretty cool, with an updated anime style and much better production prices than the cheap original – but then this text appeared halfway through the screen:
Why do you have to remind me of the imminent catastrophe of the times, Netflix. God. The series will premiere on 23 July. Well, at least I can cheer myself up by watching two other major streamer shows that premiere this month as we get second seasons of a couple of their best 2020 debuts, an ultra-awkward sketch comedy series. I think you should get away with Tim Robinson (July 6) and Mindy Kaling’s outstanding teenage comedy Never Have Me (July 15). I’m also very excited about the action thriller Gunpowder Cocktail (July 14), which is clearly taken from the John Wick / Explosive Blonde uniform, but of course there is nothing wrong with that when your Killer Lady Revenge movie includes Karen Gillen. , Lena Headey (again), Carla Gugino, Michelle Yeoh and Angela Bassett. And then there’s Sexy Beasts (July 21), a reality show that feels like a blind date with a masked singer , and I think you should just watch this trailer and decide if it sounds funny or terrifying:
After you’ve been brainwashed, check out everything that comes (and leaves) the service in July.
