One of the many things we’ve learned over the past year is that most office work can be done from just about anywhere with a reliable internet connection (unless you have young children, that’s a different story). So, after years of having office leaders telling employees that telecommuting was not possible, this is now a difficult argument.
If you’ve thought about hitting the road as a digital nomad – at least temporarily – you might be interested in Airbnb’s new program . This will give 12 people the opportunity to live on Airbnbs around the world for 10 months, as long as they cover your travel and living expenses. Here’s what you need to know and how to apply.
What the program entails
The initiative called ” Live Anywhere on Airbnb ” starts in July 2021 and runs until July 2022. Ten of those months will be spent on the road. In exchange for covering your stay and travel, the selected 12 people will be required to provide Airbnb with feedback on their experience. Specifically:
- Product changes and resources that can help improve long-term life.
- Ideal accommodation options for solo travelers or groups such as families.
- Connecting with local community members and businesses
- Better understanding of the financial benefits of hosting while traveling
Between July and September, winners will have the opportunity to learn from Airbnbers experts like The Senior Nomads and traveling journalist Imani Bashir , a former Lifehacker staff writer. Then for 10 months of travel, Airbnb will cover:
- Accommodation loan
- Fare
- Listing suggestions
- Local experience
Selected members can be joined by “up to three satellites each.”
How to apply

You must be at least 18 years of age to apply andcan do so by July 30th, 11:59 pm ET.
