How to Set Your Own Default Font in Microsoft Word
Say it isn’t, Calibri. I’ve always preferred Microsoft Word’s default font – much more than Times New Roman, at least which Microsoft replaced with Calibri back in Office 2007. And while Microsoft is finally trying to shake things up again with a new default font, you are not you have to obey the whims of Redmond. You can set any font to be the default in Word. (Calibri forever.)
First, open Word and create a new document. Click the tiny arrow – the “Font Dialog Launcher,” as Word calls it, in the lower-right corner of the Font section of the ribbon. You can see it here:
Then this window should appear:
It’s time to choose the font that Microsoft Word will use by default when opening a new document. As much as you would like to choose something ridiculous, like Wingdings, it will become outdated very quickly. (Bookmark this idea, though, because it’s great for pranking unsuspecting friends or coworkers.)
Once you have made your choice by clicking on the name of the selected font, make sure you click on the “Set as default” button in the lower left corner. You will then be asked if you want to set your choice as the default for the current document (no) or for each document “based on the Normal.dotm template” (yes).
If you are using a work computer and this option is not suitable, your company may not allow you to edit the specified template. As Microsoft points out , you can check if this is the case by doing a quick Windows 10 search for “Normal.dotm” from the Start menu. Right-click the result and open the file location, then right-click the file and select Properties . Make sure the read-only checkbox is not checked on the General tab of the file, and uncheck the checkbox if it is checked.
After that go to the “Security” tab and make sure that you (or the group in which your account is located) have write permissions to the file. Otherwise, you could get stuck, unless whoever controls your office computer is willing and able to lend a helping hand.
How to help Microsoft choose the next default font
Also, if you want to help Microsoft choose a new default font for everyone , now that he’s tired of my sweet Calibri, let your voice be known on social media. Microsoft has five new fonts that it will add in a future version of its Office suite; like Highlander, there can only be one by default.

I am sure that some of them are not fonts, but products sold in IKEA. Maybe it’s just me.
