This Is the Best Visual Co-Parenting Calendar for Young Children.

Transitions are a pain point for most parents of young children. Even the slightest transition from one activity to another can cause a nervous breakdown in a baby who is worried that he does not know what will happen next. So it only makes sense that one of the most important transitions a young child can make – going from mom to dad and back – can cause him some stress. This is why one parent created a visual calendar to show his daughter when she’s coming and when she’s leaving.

The calendar that Kinsey Morlang posted on TikTok uses a color-coded system of numbers and dots, for example:

The days she will be with her father are written in black marker; the days she will be with her mom are marked in blue. They also include red dots in the upper left or upper right corner of the day box to indicate when the child is returning home or leaving home.

As Good Morning America reports:

Since Dylann is a visual learner, Morlang wanted to create something that would make the weekly schedule easier to work with.

“I discovered this when she asked, ‘When will I see Dad again? “And I would say,” [In] two days. ” Or “Once,” she just didn’t realize it, ”said Morlang, a Chino resident,“ Good Morning America. ” “It sowed a grain in my head and I said,” Okay, I’m going to use the color code. “

At the end of the day, Morlang erases the number and dots of that day so that it is easier for their daughter to see what will happen in the near future. If their daughter wants to know how many more days are left before she returns to her father, she can simply count the squares until she moves on to the next black number.

This calendar system is an especially good solution for preschoolers who are old enough to count the days themselves, but too young to keep track of the schedule or days of the week on their own.
