How to Stream the 2021 Oscars
After a two month delay in the pandemic, the 2021 Academy Awards will finally be presented on Sunday, and the big question is this: Does anyone have enough attention to watch – whether live or streaming online? Given how many of last year’s major films were in 2021 – which means no nominations for Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story or Denis Villeneuve’s Dune – the selection of best films is a jumble of streaming premieres and small – if not unworthy – indie films. which is likely to increase the rating of the ceremony. decline . (Turns out, movies seem a lot less special when they’re just being uploaded to a streaming service.) If the Emmy and Golden Globes ratings of the pandemic can tell us anything, it’s that people are even less interested in awards when they happen virtually (or maybe we’re just not in the mood to watch Hollywood celebrate itself). Oscar will at least try to maintain a semblance of normality by gathering most (verified, possibly vaccinated) stars in one room , so if you want to see how to do it.
It’s still on TV
Ratings are falling, but we’re still a long way from getting an Oscar from a major network. As usual, the local ABC office will be hosting the ceremony live starting at 8pm ET on Sunday, April 25th. If you’re looking to get to the pre-show – although this year’s red carpet celebrations will reportedly be “tiny” – that’s great. off at 6:30 pm ET.
How to stream Oscars online

The awards will be streamed live on ABC’s website , but unfortunately you won’t be able to go there to watch them without registering through your pay TV provider, whether cable or satellite. Which if you have those options probably means you are less dependent on streaming online anyway, but that is the way it is.
Live streaming service
If you’re a cord cutter, you can also watch shows through a variety of streaming services that offer a live streaming option, including Hulu Live TV, YouTube TV, and FuboTV, all of which offer access to your local ABC affiliate. If you haven’t signed up for one of these services yet and don’t mind burning your free trial to get your rewards, you can subscribe to each one for 7 days and cancel before being charged – just don’t. Don’t forget, as these services have a much higher monthly fee than the standard $ 8-15 you would normally pay for a streaming service.
Free via Roku channel
There is one surefire and free way to stream the 2021 Academy Awards, and it’s all thanks to Rock. The ceremony will be streamed live via the Roku channel and you can watch it online or using your mobile device by creating a free account ; then you can cast the stream to your TV if you have a compatible device like Chromecast. If you have a Roku device and want to watch it on your TV, add the ABC News Live channel and download it when the show starts. You can watch both the pre-show and the main event with this method, all without cursing, as long as you tune this useless digital antenna that you paid $ 60 for.
