Get Three Free Adventure Games From Epic This Week
Epic Games Store shoppers who have outlived their shame can restore them by purchasing a trio of acclaimed indie adventure games this week for free.
First is Deponia: The Complete Journey , which combines Deponia , Chaos on Deponia, and Good-Bye Deponia into a single set . Players take on the role of Rufus as he tries to escape the garbage planet Deponia with his unrequited love interest, Gol (a little on the nose, guys). Well known for its humorous dialogue and intricate puzzle designs, this sci-fi point-and-click adventure series will appeal to anyone who loved old LucasArts PC adventure games.
According to the Epic Store page, the collection includes all three games with new in-game menus and maps and enhanced soundtracks, as well as tons of bonus content like developer commentary, video creation, help guides, and more, making Deponia: The Complete ‘Journey “ worth tackling, even if you’ve already completed the streak.
Next up is The First Tree , a 3D exploration game in which you travel through vibrant forests like a lonely fox. There is more to this story, but I don’t want to spoil it. This is a quick walkthrough; you can experience it all in less than an hour.
What is most impressive about the game is that it was created by just one person, David Vel. Vele documents his solo developments on his YouTube channel , which I recommend checking out if you like The First Tree .
Finally, we have another point-and-click adventure game: The Pillars of the Earth , based on Ken Follett’s bestselling historical science fiction novel of the same name.
If you’re unfamiliar with the source material, Pillars of the Earth takes place in Kingsbridge, England, during the Anarchy Civil War, which lasted from 1135 to 1153 AD – an era rife with political conspiracies and social upheaval.
The game involves three playable characters: local monk Philip; a noblewoman named Aliena; and a boy named Jack. According to the Epic Games Store, the game retells the story in a “new interactive style” that allows players to “change the events of the novel and influence the fate of its characters.”
All three games are free to download until April 22nd. To add games to your library, visit their store pages in the Epic Games Store app and click Get.
