How to Navigate the New Google Play Store Interface
The new Google Play Store experience is now rolling out to all Android users. It looks mostly the same as before, but it reorganizes the store layout and optimizes the menu, so it will be different to navigate the app. Here’s a quick look at the new design of the Google Play Store app, showing where the different sections are now.
New navigation menu
The first thing you’ll notice is the new search bar and profile menu. Your Google account profile is still displayed in the upper right corner, but the hamburger menu that used to hang next to the search bar is gone. Instead, you now click your profile icon to open a new menu overlay.
At the top of this menu is your Google account information. Tap the down arrow to switch, add, or manage other accounts on your device. This is also where you will see any notifications when you open the Play Store.
Next in the new menu window are shortcuts to other sections, including:
- My apps and games
- Library
- Payments and subscriptions:
- Pay Protect
- Notifications and suggestions
- Play
- Game points
- Settings
- Help and Feedback
Almost all of these pages look the same as before, with a few exceptions, including the new Library menu where you will find a link to your Play Store wishlist and shortcuts to watch your purchases of videos in the Google TV app and your eBooks in Play Books (note that this library menu is different from the Library section of the My Apps & Games tab, which lists all of your Play Store purchases).
Updated settings menu
The rest of the changes were made in the settings menu, which has been reorganized into four separate sections with different submenus:
- General: Includes account settings, notification settings, boot settings, dark / light mode themes, and other app-related options.
- User Controls: Options for configuring purchase authentication requirements and automatic installation of apps after purchases.
- Family: parental controls, parenting guide information, and family group management.
- About: View the app version, Play Protect certification status, and other license information.
By default, four sections are collapsed; tap a heading to view all settings and information for each.
View and purchase remain the same
When it comes to navigating the Play Store itself, the experience is much the same as before: you choose between games, apps, movies and TV shows or books in tabs at the bottom of the screen, or navigate between categories like recommendations, top charts. , new releases, and more below the search bar, which you can use to search for specific products by keywords.
The new Google Play redesign is part of the latest app update and should be released after installing the new version. If not, press and hold the Play Store app icon on the launch screen, tap the i icon, then select Force Stop. Restart the app and you will find yourself in the new Play Store dig.
