Welcome to the Lodge
Welcome to The Lodge, Lifehacker’s newest section, dedicated to every aspect of family life – from the big questions (how much does it actually cost to buy a house?) To the little ones (what’s the best light bulb for every room?).
We have been covering these topics for years. (Dig into the section and you’ll see that we already have a ton of stories in the archives.) We just didn’t have, well, a home for them, and now is the time. For better or worse, the pandemic has made our homes more important than ever. For some of us, they have become our office; for the third, these are the classes of our children. We chat with friends via video calls and have a candlelit takeaway, looking forward to the day when we can safely return to restaurants. We are more than ever aware of the need for a shelter, as well as an efficient space that can handle multiple tasks at the same time.
We’ve added pets to the Lodge for those who want a furry friend or two in their homes. (Or a scaly / feathered / bald friend if you ride like that.) So if you need to know why your cat likes to knock things over, or what plants might be dangerous to your pets, this is the place to go. (Oh, and if you have unwanted critters in and around your home, we’ll also address these issues. What is the most hated mouse smell? What treat can lure a raccoon out of your garage? Take your time, we’ll let you know.)
Our launch is sponsored by American Family Insurance. However, the Lodge is purely an editorial initiative – what we cover and how we cover it is entirely up to us. We’d love to know what questions you have or what stories you’d like to see, so drop us a line in the comments. Take off your shoes, stay awhile. This is your Lodge.
