It’s nice to have someone check in for you with ideas that fit your particular interests, and that’s exactly what Apple and Common Sense Media have decided to do for kids – teaming up to create a selection of podcasts for kids by age. group and theme.
As Sarah Perez of TechCrunch reports :
Apple said the site will be updated monthly to include new and popular shows and timely present collections of historical and cultural highlights such as Women’s Story Month or Back to School.
The company also notes that show selection is curated using the same science-based approach that Common Sense Media applies to other entertainment such as TV shows, movies, books, apps and games.
The list is available through Apple.co/showsforkids , through Apple Podcasts, and includes recommendations for children 2-5, 6-9, 10 and up.
Current recommendations for kids ages 2-5 include the Ear Snacks music podcast, Bedtime Stories podcast , and Chompers , a favorite podcast about brushing your teeth. Recommendations for children ages 6-9: Young Ben Franklin , Hear Aloud with The Loud House and Earth Rangers . Recommendations for teens and teens have DC’s Daughters , Mic Drops and Best’s Smash Boom .
You can also browse podcasts by topic – currently sorted by Common Sense Media selection; a “One more!” a category that features serialized secrets and adventure podcasts; section for choosing children; and a selection of storytelling podcasts.
