How to Get a Refund for Your Streaming Purchase

Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, and Premier Access with Disney + are all popular platforms offering digital media purchase options. But what happens if you don’t want the product in the end? How do I return a purchase I regretted?

Disney + Premier Access

Through Premier Access, Disney + offers subscribers the ability to watch movies the same day they hit screens. For an additional $ 29.99 fee, you can watch movies like Paradise and The Last Dragon the same day they hit theaters. The difference between Premier Access and services like Apple TV or Prime Video is you don’t own the movie – it’s more like a long-term rental. Thirty days to be exact. So, what happens if you end up not watching a movie or decide to watch it in theaters after purchasing Premier Access? This service is so new that no return policies are specified, so we spoke with a customer service representative via Disney + Chat.

I asked specifically about the refund for Paradise and the Last Dragon – what if I decided not to look on the platform? The representative replied, “If, in any case, you [have] problems with the playback, or cannot use it at all, rest assured that you are still eligible for a full refund for it. You just need to contact us right away so we can process your return as soon as possible. ” They did not specify what exactly “as soon as possible” means, but when I asked for more details on the timeline, they mentioned that there was no timeline. Disney + can determine whether a service has been used or not. Customer Support may work with you to get a refund if it doesn’t work as expected or if you “really don’t want to use premium access.”

If you decide to buy Paradise and the Last Dragon but instead decide to buy it in the cinema, contact the Disney + Help Center for a refund.

Apple shopping

Apple’s terms and conditions are clearly set out in their in-app purchases and returns policy. “All transactions are final,” the message says. “If technical issues are preventing the delivery of Content or unreasonably delaying it, your sole and sole remedy is to either replace the Content or refund the price paid, as determined by Apple.” A refund request is considered a “problem” and is considered a problem. To request a refund , you must go to reportaproblem.apple.com and sign in with your Apple ID. You will see a prompt: “How can we help you?” and below it is a drop-down list with options. Select “Request Refund”. You will then see an additional drop-down menu offering “tell us more”. List of options;

  • I didn’t want to buy this
  • Child / minor made a purchase without permission
  • I was not going to renew my subscription (s)
  • My purchase is not working as expected
  • In-App not received
  • Another

Below the request form, you will see your recent purchases. You must select one of these items to return. If you don’t see your item, you can search by price in the available search box. If your item doesn’t show up, it’s likely a transaction that is too old. Apple will only accept returns for items purchased within 90 days .

After sending a request, it takes from several days to a week to receive a response. If approved, you will see a refund ranging from 48 hours (for store credit) to 60 days, depending on the device it was returned from.

Amazon Prime Video

If you’ve ever returned items purchased on Amazon, you know it’s pretty straightforward. You navigate to your orders by logging into the Amazon website and a listing will indicate if the item is eligible for a return. In this case, you fill out a simple form, receive a label or drop off point to return your product. Prime Video is pretty straightforward too, but not nearly as lenient with throwbacks. Prime Video sets out its policy clearly on its website . “You can return your Prime Video order within 48 hours if you haven’t tried to watch or download it,” the message says. Amazon also calls this return a “random purchase”. The instructions are clear on the return site and easy to use. You simply log into Prime Video, find an order, and choose “cancel order”. You then provide a justification and the funds will be returned to your payment method and the program removed from your library. It’s even easier with Alexa; you just say, “Cancel my last Prime Video order.”
