10 Reasons Paramount + Is a Streaming TV Heaven
I know, I know who needs another new streaming service in 2021, right? But Paramount +, which launched today, isn’t technically new – it’s just a beefed-up version of CBS All Access, augmented to take full advantage of the synergies created by the 2019 merger between CBS and Viacom, Paramount Pictures’ parent company.
As we explained a few weeks ago , this turns Paramount + into a streaming hub for a range of Viacom material, including many existing and upcoming original series ( 36 this year !), Paramount’s huge movie library (2,500 at launch, with some high-profile theatrical releases) 2021, joining the service 45 days after they hit the big screen ), and a whole slew of live sports ( March Madness ).
If you, in particular, are a fan of television, please note: at the time of launch, the service catalog includes programs from CBS, Nickelodeon, MTV, Comedy Central, BET and others. These disparate networks span many great TV shows, spanning different genres, and are now all available in one place for about $ 5 a month (or $ 10 if you can’t deal with limited commercial breaks). Is that enough to make you a pony? Well, I did it (although full disclosure, I took advantage of the 50% discount prior to launch) and this slideshow demonstrates why.
