Use This Site to Find a Movie to Watch With a Friend or Partner Based on Shared Likes
If you, like many people, have found yourself in front of the TV more often over the past year than ever before, you are not alone. And thanks to new streaming service extensions and features, we can have long distance movie nights with people who don’t live with us (or even in the same state) and watch things on Netflix, Hulu, Disney +, Prime Video. and YouTube.
Installing this part is pretty straightforward. The most difficult thing is to choose what to see. Even people who seem to have everything in common can disagree about entertainment. And it’s not limited to people outside our home.
While many people have multiple screens at their disposal, the struggle over what to watch can be a potential strain for all types of relationships throughout the pandemic. This is where Movie Matcher comes in handy. This is how it works and how to use it.
How to use Movie Matcher
The idea here is to help you and a friend / partner / family member / pen pal choose a movie to watch together that you both might actually enjoy – instead of one person who doesn’t like superhero movies sat down and watched that something else. Like. (Again.)
This is how it works. Go to the site and enter your name. Then, decide if you want to befriend a partner (used here in the UK version, not someone for procreation) or a movie star. Go with a “comrade”. (We’ll look at an option involving a movie star in a minute.) You will receive a link that you can copy and send to your friend.
Then both parties are asked to make a choice. First, by choosing three genres of films that they are not in the mood to watch (eg science fiction, war, drama, etc.). Then for the three types of films they are in the mood to watch (i.e. feel good, detective, superhero). And finally, how far do they want to go back (like movies from 1970).
Using the IMDb data and your preferences, you get a movie recommendation that you both should probably either agree with or at least agree with. If you want something more, just click “seen” and other options will appear. Once you’ve settled on something, you can click on “More” to go to the recommended movie’s IMDb page for more information.
How to approach a movie star
People who have no one to watch movies with at a distance (or in the same house), but still want to play, can do this by choosing the option of matching with a movie star. This will lead to small illustrations of various characters in the film, including Sister Mary Clarence / Deloris Wilson, Princess Leia, Shrek, Harry Potter, Mary Poppins and a few others.
But what’s not clear is whether you will be approaching a movie star (as advertised) or the character depicted in the picture. For example, I would be very interested in juxtaposing Carrie Fisher, but give up Princess Leia. Anyway, this is a funny thing and I messed it up, but you get the idea. As a result, you get the film recommended to you and either the hero of the film or the actor who played them. Then you are left to enjoy it alone.
