First Thing to Set up in Windows 10
Whether you’ve unpacked a new computer or recently updated your software, the first time you start your Windows 10 computer, you’ll want to enable some settings and presets to ensure the best user experience.
First, sign in to your Microsoft account to sync your previous settings and save any new settings you made in Windows 10. Then check for updates – if you’ve just upgraded using an older version of Windows 10, you’ll want to do this to make sure that you have the latest version of everything installed. For the latest news, sign up for the Windows Insider Program to get access to the latest features.
Here’s the next round of settings you’ll want to toggle:
- Go to the Display section and adjust the night light mode to adjust the color temperature of the screen at night.
- Go to the Notifications & Actions section to turn off all of these Microsoft alerts.
- Go to Storage and enable Storage Sense to keep your system clean.
- After installing the applications, go to the taskbar and select “Choose which icons will appear on the taskbar” to keep everything looking neat.
- Likewise, go to Applications and click Startup to decide which applications will start automatically when your computer starts up, and there should be no more than one or two.
