In the wake of Southwest Airlines’ two-for-one credit card deal , Amtrak has just launched a new promotion , a Buy-One-Get-One Free Sale on Valentine’s Day , allowing comrades to travel free on most train routes. Here’s what you need to know.
How to get a free ride
The period during which you can take advantage of this promotion is limited to a few days, as you will have to make your purchase before next Tuesday, February 16th. Customers can purchase a ticket that includes one free travel companion to travel around the country from February 22 to August. 27, using code C214 when you make a reservation or visit amtrak.com/vdaysale .
Your companion must travel on the same booking and you must travel together. Upgrades to Acela First and Non-Acela Business Class are valid upon full payment of the stay. However, upgrades to berths are not permitted. This offer also cannot be combined with other discount offers.
Popular routes such as Auto Train , Northeast Regional , Acela , Southwest Chief , Empire Builder, and California Zephyr are available at this discount. Offer not valid for Amtrak Cascades, Pennsylvanian, Keystone Service and 7000-8999 Thruways.
