Add a Spray to Your Baby’s Medicine
When young children are sick, they often need to take medicine, but when children are sick, they also often feel strongly that they really would not want to take medicine. In particular, babies are not ready for logical reasoning, for example: “You don’t feel well! It will make you feel bad! ” They do not care; they don’t want it. And you just want to add medications to them without making the situation worse. That’s what sprinkling is for.
The idea comes from Nikki ( @TinyHeartsEducation on Instagram and us via PopSugar ). You just measure out the right dose, sprinkle it with a spoon and shake it with a little spray on top. Like this:
Mary Poppins wasn’t quite literal when she said that thespoonful of sugar helps the drug metabolize , but judging by the way this cute little child is completely absorbing her medicine, she could havedone so.
Does the medicine taste better with a spray? I have never tried this combination, but my instinct tells me that it is completely wrong. But again, we are not working in logic here; when it comes to young children and medicine, it’s all about presentation. While the spray medicine may sound a little disgusting to you , it looks magical to them. And if that doesn’t work, try the juice box trick .
