How to Watch the Groundhog Phil Tell Us When Our Suffering Is Over

Pennsylvania’s Nor’ister won’t stop Phil the groundhog from performing his virtual work duties: The famous groundhog will appear tomorrow, February 2, where he will predict the weather for the next six weeks. We can’t celebrate with Phil in person this year (but did you really plan it?). Instead, Groundhog Day will be broadcast like everything else in the past 12 months.

How to watch

Punxsutawney Phil will emerge from his burrow at 7:45 am to study the weather and discover his shadow (or not). You can watch local and national news channels as usual with your cable operator; if you don’t have a cable, you have several alternatives. Watch directly on groundhog.org for an entire day of events, starting at 6:30 am with some pre-events. The day will also be broadcast on Punxsutawney’s Facebook and YouTube pages. For Pennsylvania residents, the Pennsylvania Cable Network ( PCN ) has a comprehensive list of networks to see at this year’s marmot demonstration.

You can even listen through shortwave radio: Punxsutawney provides coordinates and channels to tune in to the winter verdict.

Participate in virtual activities

You can “visit” the holiday with a cardboard cutout, if you like it. Submit your 1MB or smaller image in Groundhog Day merchandise to [email protected] . Event organizers will print the image on a cardboard cutout and place it on the seats for spectators on the day of the event. You may need to purchase your own cutout (nothing is free in this world), so contact us now if you need more details.

Like any other celebrity, Phil has his own cameos to buy. For $ 99, you can get a personal message from Groundhog.

You can also take part in a virtual scavenger hunt before the start of the day; just download the “Eventzee app” and create an account. Or use the designated QR code on groundhog.org to get the app and use the ‘Phil’ event code to join the online scavenger hunt.
