Make Sure Your Ice Cream Is Not Recalled Due to Metal

Given that life in 2021 has so far been characterized by overwhelming chaos and uncertainty, you may feel compelled to seek solace in a beautiful box of delicious ice cream. But this year even ice cream is trying to kill you.

Two ice cream products from Weis Markets can be filled with hazardous materials: the 11,000 containers of the company’s products currently on the market come with a choking hazard due to “metal filling equipment parts” being wedged into its confectionery, according to the published previously advised by the FDA. this month.

If you are a fan of the brand, you should probably throw away any container of its products, even if you think you have escaped danger for some reason. Here’s what you need to know about a recall.

11,000 containers were affected, distributed across seven states.

According to the FDA warning, the two ice cream flavors are wrapped in the mess the agency listed below:

  • 10,869 containers of Weis Quality Biscuits and Ice Cream (48 oz.)
  • 502 Klein’s Vanilla Dairy Ice Cream Bulk Containers (3 Gallons)

As the agency notes, the ice cream is “contaminated with foreign matter,” and one person found “intact metal equipment” in his ice cream box. Ouch.

The company issued a warning for the two products on January 8, but the situation is compounded by the fact that each was sold in a different store. Cookie and cream cartons were distributed at “197 Weis Markets stores in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, New Jersey, New York, Delaware and West Virginia,” according to the FDA. Klein’s Vanilla ice cream was distributed in large quantities in only one store in New York, and has since been discontinued.

Luckily, there was only one report that a shopper discovered a naughty piece of metal in his ice cream, although the thought of eating something that might end up in his mouth definitely provides some, well, food for thought.

How to know if your ice cream is damaged

There are helpful hints to let you know if you’re going to buy or bite into spoiled ice cream. The cookie and cream jars are supplied in 48 ounces. packaging with an expiration date of October 28, 2021 (written on the bottom of the container) and was originally handed out to stores on October 29, 2020. Since the vanilla ice cream has already been shipped from the only outlet in New York State, in terms of additional sales, the cost is understandable. If any New Yorker fears an affected ice cream is lurking in their freezer, you can identify the box by its code mark: 0302.

The additional ice cream distributed by the company last October is in stock and is not available for sale. Until then, consider buying ice cream from the many other vendors currently on the market.
