How to Watch Nvidia’s ‘GeForce RTX: Game On’ Event Today
Later today we will see the company’s latest gaming hardware for the first time on Nvidia’s “GeForce RTX: Game On” livestream. (We hope any new announcements will bring down the price and increase the availability of its top-end graphics cards.)
The live stream kicks off Tuesday, January 12 at noon ET / 9:00 AM PT. You can watch on Nvidia’s official livestreaming page as well as the official YouTube and Twitch channels. The official page also has links to add reminders to your Google or iCal calendar.
The event will be hosted by Jeff Fisher, Senior Vice President of Nvidia’s GeForce Business Unit. That means we probably won’t see Nvidia CEO Jen-Hsun Huang’sinexplicably large collection of blades again, but at least we’ll see the next set of graphics cards in Nvidia’s RTX 3000 series – hopefully.
Nvidia hasn’t given any hints on what it plans to unveil, but we can speculate that one or two more RTX 3000 series GPUs will be announced based on leaks and rumors. This includes the RTX 3050, which in theory would be the most affordable of the current generation Nvidia cards. There are also rumors that Nvidia is working on the RTX 3080 Ti, which will fill the gap between the RTX 3080 and 3090 in terms of specs and price.
Again, both the 3050 and 3080 Ti are just rumors, but they make sense from a business standpoint. Shortages of supplies and import duties are driving up the prices of all GPUs . Having an affordable option available to customers on a budget is a smart move, while a new high-performance model can help increase your chances of finding any high-end 3000 Series card before they sell out.
Nvidia is also expected to showcase its mobile RTX chips for laptops and handheld gaming equipment. Leaked specs for an upcoming ASUS laptop include the RTX 3080, which is usually too powerful to fit in a laptop. We’re also curious to see what’s going on here – provided the reported leaks are accurate.
