Get Hulu for $ 2 a Month As a College Student
If you haven’t bathed in a streaming subscription yet, Hulu offers students a monthly plan with a $ 2 discount . Note, however, that if you are a long-time college graduate and have an .edu email address, it won’t be enough to qualify as a “student” – Hulu checks to see if you are actually attending school.
New student plan
The ad-supported plan offers two simultaneous streams that allow you to watch on-demand content that includes original programming such as The Handmaid’s Tale and Palm Springs , as well as content from ABC, NBC, Fox, Bravo, USA Network, FXX and more … That’s $ 4 cheaper per month than what you usually get on a data plan. The offer, which currently has no expiration date, will surely attract more on-demand users who can later be sold on a more expensive live streaming plan .
If you are a current subscriber and enrolled in a US Title IV accredited college or university, you are eligible to upgrade to the student plan by logging into your Hulu account, then going here and clicking “GET OFFER” to apply the student plan. discount on existing ad-supported Hulu subscription.
The plan includes the new Hulu Watch Party feature, which allows subscribers to watch and discuss content in groups of up to eight. To learn more about how it works and how to set it up, check out this Lifehacker post .
You can’t pretend to be a student
It’s no secret that people use their .edu email account to get student discounts years after they graduate from college, but in fact, Hulu is verifying your status. In partnership with the SheerID party verification service, you will need to provide the name of your college or university. Per Hulu:
Offer is valid for new and existing Hulu billing subscribers who are enrolled in a U.S. Title IV accredited college or university and who meet verification requirements. Checking is done via SheerID; Enrollment information (e.g. first name, last name, college / university name, date of birth) must be provided to SheerID for verification purposes. An automatic retest is performed annually.
If you last went to college during the Obama administration, it looks like you’re out of luck.
