How to Take HDR Photos on an Android Go Phone
Earlier this year, Google launched Camera Go, a stripped-down version of its Camera app for Android Go devices. Android Go phones are entry-level devices with weaker hardware but aggressively affordable prices – typically under $ 100. At launch, Camera Go was missing most of the best features of the Android Camera app, but some devices can now use premium modes such as portrait mode, night mode, and soon HDR.
HDR broadens the range of contrast and color in your photos, and could potentially even enhance the more modest photos you’ll take on your Android Go device. However, you will have to wait a bit to access this feature if your device is even compatible.
HDR is part of the upcoming December update to the Camera Go app, which will roll out to all Android Go devices in the coming days. But like Night Mode and Camera Go’s portrait mode, HDR only works on select Android Go devices.
We didn’t find a complete list of HDR-compatible Android Go phones, but Android Central specifically mentions the Nokia 1.3, Wiko Y61, and Wiko Y81. Other devices that support Camera Go’s portrait and night modes also have a good chance of getting HDR, although this ultimately depends on your device’s manufacturer and hardware.
It will be easy to determine if your device can use HDR as soon as a new patch arrives: open Camera Go and then look for the new “HDR” option in the shooting modes menu. If there is one, click to turn it on and enjoy its detail-enhancing effects.
An incoming update should install automatically if you already have Camera Go on your device, or you can install it from Google Play when it becomes available. The app page in the Play Store is only accessible through an Android Go device, but you can also download Camera Go unpublished by downloading it from a trusted third-party source like APK Mirror if you need an additional installation method.
