What Will Happen in Hulu in January 2021
This January, Hulu is bringing together more sci-fi, action-adventure and alien encounters to air in the new year (since alien invasion is the only thing that hasn’t happened yet ). First on my list to watch is the awkward sci-fi comedy Save Yourself , in which quirky couple Jack (John Reynolds) and Su (Sunita Money) take a week off in upstate New York. The two swear they are ditching social media and screens (which already sounds like a horror movie), leaving them completely oblivious to the alien invasion right outside their door. The Trekkies will enjoy the Tribble-like creatures invading their sanctuary, and I can’t wait to see Sunita Mani fend off the fluffy pillows sent to take over the world.
Another choice is the classic ’90s film Arachnophobia, starring Jeff Daniels and John Goodman. Goodman stands out as a fighter enthusiast dedicated to freeing the Jennings family from a deadly spider invasion, and the creepy invaders are still intimidating even 30 years later.
If we didn’t like the 2020 apocalypse, Hulu acquired Cloverfield , Species and The Relic for 2021. However, not all encounters with aliens are sinister: Star Trek fans can enjoy immersive space exploration with Star Trek Beyond, Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home, and Star Trek: First Contact, available on January 1st. And the Endlings continues their mission to protect all alien creatures in the second season of the original Hulu series, which will premiere on January 15th.
