Add Popcorn to Your Cookie Shipments
Christmas cookies are always important, but deleted love gestures and a holiday mood are critical this year – it is absolutely imperative that any cookies sent to friends and family arrive at their destination unharmed.
Choosing the right type of cookie (for example, strong gingerbread on a fine lace pillow) and the preservation of ” likes with likes ” may help, still as the use of appropriate forms for the cookies, and they really pack. The less room the cookies have to move, the less likely they are to be affected by a collision, and the better they will look when they are finally deployed.
But your job isn’t finished yet when the cookie ends up in the box. The tin must be in the box to ship, and the extra space in the box can damage your cookies as well. You can fill that extra space with newspaper or a package of peanuts, but I never have them at home. (I get news from a little thing called the “world wide web” – Can you hear about this?) What do I do in my house (at all times) is popcorn, and this stuff just happens to be a very convenient, incredibly biodegradable packaging material. (Plain popcorn works best for obvious reasons – you don’t want your shipping carton to be oily.)
To make your cookie have plenty of cushion, fill the bottom of the box about two inches with popcorn, place the jar on top, and then fill the remaining empty space with more popcorn. You can also use popped corn to fill in the gaps in the jar itself, if needed. It’s really hard to overdo it with popcorn here, because cookies are the most valuable cargo.
