What’s New on HBO Max in November 2020
You really have to feel HBO. For decades, the network has prided itself on being one of the first places to see the latest Hollywood movies after they left cinemas. That was a big selling point: subscribe to HBO, watch big movies ASAP. But since there are basically no new theatrical films, the only 2020 theatrical release coming to the streaming service this month is … Dolittle . Even after 27 months of the pandemic, Dolittle doesn’t care . At least HBO can still attract celebrity talent; see November 21 premiere of Between the World and Me , an adaptation of Ta-Nehisi Coates’ poignant, best-selling memoir, starring Oscar-winning Mahershala Ali.
If you subscribe to HBO Max (no, still not on Roku or Fire Stick, and that’s not great ), there are a few extra bright spots. Melissa McCarthy stars in Superintelligence (November 26) about a woman who catches the attention of the world’s first intelligent AI, who begins to talk to her through various smart devices. On the same day, he sees at the premiere of a stewardess, a new mystery comedy series starring Kaley Cuoco, as a woman who wakes up one morning in an unfamiliar hotel bed next to a dead man and has to find out why.
That’s all for HBO and HBO Max in November. Titles with (HBO) next to them are available on all HBO services. Everything else is exclusive to HBO Max.
