How to Watch the New MTV-Style Music Channel on Apple TV

Apple just launched Apple Music TV, a new Apple TV channel that streams music videos, live concerts and other exclusive music content 24/7. It’s a free add-on for anyone with an Apple Music or Apple TV app, although it’s only available in the US for now.

I’ve also seen claims that you can access the feed in your web browser via apple.co/AppleMusicTV , but the link just redirects me to the Apple TV landing page. If you are mobile, take out your iPhone or iPad and launch the Apple Music app. You’ll find Apple’s new channel under the Browse tab – just click Watch Now to start streaming.

So what will you see and hear on Apple Music TV? Well, mostly music videos, but that’s not all.

The channel premiered on Monday, October 19 and kicked off with a countdown of the top 100 songs on Apple Music in the US.

Apple also plans to air new music videos every Friday at 9:00 am PT / 12:00 pm ET, starting with new music videos for Saint Jhn’s songs “Gorgeous” and Joji’s “777” on Friday, October 23rd.

Apple Music TV will also feature carefully curated blocks of content for superfans. The first is the October 22 “takeover” of Bruce Springsteen, which will include his music videos, exclusive interviews and more in honor of Springsteen’s new album Letter to You .

In addition to music videos, Apple has a ton of music-themed documentaries, live concerts and other content that the company plans to stream through its free channel.

Now that I mainly listen to hip-hop, video game soundtracks, and Indonesian grindcore, my tastes don’t necessarily match up with what Apple Music TV has to offer. However, I don’t think Apple’s proposal is that much different than just enabling YouTube music playback videos or just streaming tracks on any other music app.

That said, the Apple Music TV concept is undeniably appealing, especially since it will feature exclusive content for you to enjoy. If you enjoy listening to popular hits or dreaming of MTV’s golden era, you will probably love Apple Music TV. However, those with a bit more underground and alternative tastes will have to rely on the MTV 2 Apple Music TV 2.
