Your Horny Kid Needs a Popsicle in the Shower
Sometimes, when your child is overwhelmed by something, be it anxiety, excitement, or energy, the best way to get him out of it or calm his nerves is through sensory experience. A bath or shower is a good start; adding popsicle to the mix, however, takes it to the next level.

A while ago I read a comment about someone’s mother giving them popsicles in the shower to calm them down and cheer them up. I can’t remember the post or the person, but boy, this advice was a game changer! Now, if I feel like my child is too nervous, or too sensitive, or something like that, I suggest we have a popsicle in the shower and everything in her instantly calms down.
Every time we take a shower of ice cream and I feel calm, I vow to post something in case the original poster sees it and can see what impact their little anecdote has had on my family. Thank you random stranger for the most casual and effective parenting advice I’ve received to date! My child likes it, I like it, everyone is happy in the end. Souls from ftw ice cream!
TL; DR is both hot and cold so intense that combining them makes sense!
This works because they engage multiple senses – the sensation of water hitting them on the back, plus the fruity taste and smell of popsicle. Also, the combination of hot water and cold popsicle cannot be beat; the popsicle cools you down and the water warms you up at the same time – this is a cyclical sensory perfection. It is impossible not to be present at the moment when you are standing in a hot shower and eating a melting popsicle. This is instant awareness.
There is no reason adults cannot do this either. Or maybe you want to replace that popsicle with, say, an ice cold beer or a glass of chilled wine. All are acceptable and encouraged.
