Protect Your Puppies From Remembered Dog Food
While we have been stuck at home for most of this year, many of us have focused on things that bring us comfort, such as food and dogs (or your favorite pet). What could have gone wrong? Well, it all started with recalling the onion , which required us to throw away everything in the house. Then came the peaches, recalled during their seasonal peak , in their prime. And now it’s dog food. As if things weren’t enough. Here’s what you need to know about the latest dog food reviews.
What products for dogs are being recalled?
First, we must point out that this is a voluntary review by dog food manufacturer Sunshine Mills, Inc. regarding the following products sold in retail stores nationwide:
- Family Pet Meaty Cuts dog food with beef, chicken and cheese flavor
- Heartland Farms Grilled Favorite with Beef, Chicken and Cheese Flavors
- Paws Happy Life Butcher’s Choice dog food
According to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) , no other Family Pet, Heartland Farms, or Paws Happy Life products are affected by this cautionary recall. Additional information, including batch codes and UPCs, can be found on the FDA website and in the table below.
Why is this dog food remembered?
The products listed above are being recalled by the FDA because they may contain potentially dangerous levels of aflatoxin – a natural byproduct of mold – which can be harmful to pets when consumed in large quantities. The good news is that, to date, there have been no reported cases of canine illness associated with the use of these recalled products.
If your dog may have eaten a potentially problematic food, the FDA recommends that you monitor your pet for symptoms, including “lethargy or lethargy combined with unwillingness to eat, vomiting, yellowish eyes or gums, or diarrhea.” If your dog experiences any of these symptoms after consuming the said food, it’s time to see your veterinarian.
Can I get a refund?
Yes. If you purchased a recalled product, Sunshine Mills recommends that you stop feeding it to your dog and wants customers to know they can return the unused portion of the food to the point of purchase for a full refund.
