How to Avoid Airbnb Being Blocked When Making a Last-Minute Booking

Airbnb is cracking down on parties. They are now almost equivalent to your parents when you were in high school. Even if you call it “a small crowd of people,” there is still the possibility of causing disorder or other damage to property. Therefore, to avoid such situations, they are introducing a new policy for last minute orders. Here’s what you need to know.

Airbnb Anti-Party Initiative

In the United States, Canada and Australia, Airbnb will begin blocking last-minute bookings that people make in the city where they live, Airbnb USA Today told Airbnb USA Today in a statement by company spokesman Charlie Urbancic. The program launched in March in both the US and Canada, and Airbnb data shows that last-minute bookings tend to result in a disproportionate number of parties.

So how exactly does it work? According to USA Today :

Airbnb will use technology to block last-minute reservations based on risk factors, including listing, booking and guest information. If a guest has no reviews and tries to book the entire house on site on the day of their stay, they may be denied this. However, a guest with positive reviews can book such an ad.

Earlier this summer, Airbnb limited the number of people allowed to party on one of its listing lists to 16 people worldwide.

So how do you avoid last minute cancellations? Positive reviews definitely help. Or, suppose you make a last-minute booking in your hometown so that parents can stay there during their socially distant visit. Ask them to make a booking under their account (or create an account for them and do it this way) so that you don’t book a rental in your hometown through your account. Then it’s up to them not to throw raging parties.
