See Celebrities Reading Black Authors Picture Books
Parents often use books as a way to introduce their children to important topics, concepts or topics and spark them. This use of books is especially important at a time when the country is grappling with many social justice issues. This is why Netflix says it has created a new live show, Bookmarks: Celebrating Black Voices , in which black celebrities read children’s books written by black authors that highlight the black experience.
The 12-episode series is aimed at preschoolers and will feature black writers, athletes, actors, musicians and comedians reading children’s books on the themes of identity, respect, justice and action. Readers include Tiffany Haddish, Lupita Nyong’o, Marsay Martin, Common and Karamo Brown.
The series will be Lead and Executive Produced by Marley Diaz, a 15-year-old activist, author and founder of the # 1000BlackGirlBooks campaign .Here’s the trailer :
