Here’s What Will Happen to Audible New Plus Plans
Audible has announced a brand new pricing structure that will roll out to all existing and new subscribers this week.
Instead of Audible Gold and Platinum, the company now offers Audible Plus and Audible Premium Plus. Both plans include access to tens of thousands of hours of audio content, but the type of content is different for each plan. We’ll share what you get when you subscribe to Audible Plus and Premium Plus, and what (if anything changes) changes for current Gold and Platinum subscribers.
Audible plus
The new Audible Plus subscription at $ 7.95 a month is the cheapest Audible plan. In addition, it is the most limited in content (at least relatively).
Audible Plus gives users ad-free access to all audiobooks, podcasts, and audio dramas exclusive to Audible. This includes over 68,000 hours of content available, and the company says more is in the works. All content in the Audible Plus library can be accessed using the Audible app or Amazon Alexa devices.
It’s important to note that Audible Plus does not include free monthly audiobook credits like Audible Gold and Platinum (and now Audible Premium Plus). You can still listen to free audiobooks with Audible Plus, but at this level you will only have access to your own Audible directory. Titles not included in the Audible catalog will need to be purchased.
Sound Premium Plus
The new Premium Plus tier combines the previous Audible Gold and Platinum packages into a single service. Like Audible plus, Premium Plus includes access to Audible audio content, but Premium Plus members also receive monthly credits that can be used to download any piece of audio content not included in the Audible Plus library, although the number of credits you get depends on how much you pay.
Despite the new name, there are actually two versions of Audible Premium Plus available: one for $ 14.95 per month, which gives you one monthly credit (Audible Gold equivalent), and another for $ 22.95 per month for two credits (replaces Audible Platinum).
What happens to your existing Audible subscription?
These updates are sudden, but apart from new plan names and access to more content, nothing changes for existing Audible subscribers. Any audiobooks you’ve already unlocked with Audible will still be available to you.
For convenience, your current Gold or Platinum subscription will be replaced with an equivalent Premium Plus plan – you don’t need to re-subscribe or change any account settings. Gold members will automatically upgrade to the Audible Premium Plus plan for $ 14.95 per month, while Platinum members will upgrade to the plan for $ 22.95 per month. Most likely, you have already switched and do not even know about it.
Audible announces that the new plans are in a “preview” stage and encourages users to contact with any questions or feedback.
In terms of new subscribers, Audible Plus and Premium Plus will be available starting August 27.
