How to Keep up With Obama
If watching Barack and Michelle Obama at the virtual Democratic National Convention this week feels a bit nostalgic, you’ll be pleased to know that there are plenty of ways to keep up with what the former First Family has been doing so far. especially through the media.

Watch documentaries about Obama
There is a fairly extensive collection of video content covering Obama’s life before, during and after their time at the White House. On Netflix, you’ll find the Becoming documentary based on the memoir of the former first lady and accompanying book tour. Barack Obama was also featured in the first episode of Dave Letterman’s ” My Next Guest Needs No Introduction” and also in ” Comedians from Coffee Cars” .
Check out the PBS 1-hour documentary, Obama’s Dreams , which tells the story of Obama’s journey from senator to president. For politics, try HBO’s The Final Year , which chronicles the administration’s foreign policy team during Obama’s last year in office.
Next comes the documentary As I See It, about how former White House photographer Pete Sousa survived Obama’s White House. The film was slated to premiere in September at the Telluride Film Festival. It’s not clear when it will become widely available, but you can watch the trailer on YouTube .
There are also a number of Netflix TV series and films purchased or directed by Obama’s production company , Higher Ground Productions. “American Factory” is the title, which is already available on Netflix, with an accompanying short film of a conversation with Obama. The Becoming was also produced by Higher Ground.

Michelle Obama recently launched Michelle Obama’s podcast , which is only available on Spotify. Episodes are typically 40 minutes to an hour long and have an interview format. While among the guests were Barack Obama, journalist Michelle Norris (discussing the pandemic and protests), Dr. Sharon Malone (on women’s health and aging) and brother Michelle Craig.
New episodes of the podcast are released weekly.

Barack Obama is well versed in music and pop culture and is used to sharing playlists – or really just lists – of his favorite songs. The most recent list, its Summer 2020 playlist, includes artists who have performed at the Democratic National Convention.
