I avoid dining indoors for security reasons, and I guess a lot of people are doing the same now. Whether you abstain entirely, or just try to minimize risk where you can , many things that would otherwise bring us a little bit of joy are no longer light-hearted pleasures. Concerts. Museums. We invite friends for dinner.

This dilemma applies not only to celebrating special occasions, but also minor ones. For example, on xxfitness reddit, people usually talk about pampering themselves with a massage, manicure, or new clothes to achieve a fitness goal. They recently discussed pandemic-compatible rewards ; One of the more popular answers was that buying yourself a houseplant is a little joy.

So now I ask you: how do you feel about yourself without increasing your risk of contracting a deadly virus? Have you switched to holiday picnics instead of dining out? If you generally find shopping to be a pleasant experience, do you get the same satisfaction buying things for yourself online?

Here is one personal example that I know is not unique: instead of our usual summer vacation on the road, our family recently booked a cabin at a nearby campsite. It’s close enough that we don’t have to stop to refuel or buy groceries along the way, and instead of crossing the country, we’ll paddle around the lake and explore the area’s little-known trails. It won’t be what we’re used to, but I’m still looking forward to it. And you?
