How to Bring Your Own Coffee or Tea to the Airport
Not everyone wants to spend $ 10 on a grande mocha latte or chamomile tea from Starbucks, Dunkin ‘or anywhere else that can be served at the airport. We all know that airports are driving up prices because people will still spend money regardless. But if you are like me (cheap), you only spend money when absolutely necessary – for example, on food, because there will be no on-board service on your flight.
Fortunately, there is a way to get free coffee or tea at the airport: bring your own.
Packing your own tea or coffee is easy and legal as long as it is not in liquid form. Create a personalized coffee / tea travel kit by packing your coffee or tea in a bag with sugar, honey, cream and whatever you use to add a drink to a travel mug or glass.
Each airport’s coffee shop (or McDonald’s) has a hot water tab for the coffee maker and kettle. Just add tea or coffee and ask if they can pour hot water for you. You can also politely show them exactly where you want to fill the water. Then insert the ingredients and voila! They can also be opened to spill some milk in there, so don’t be afraid to ask.
If you don’t like instant coffee (and who really does), you can opt for coffee singles that come in packaging like tea bags. You can also make your own coffee singles .
