13 Best New Android 11 Features

The Android 11 beta was originally slated to launch concurrently with Google’s annual developer event, but the world had other plans for a software update this year. Despite the lack of fanfare, Google released the first public beta for Pixel users, leaving plenty of time to sort out issues before it hits other Android devices later this year.

If you are playing, you can join the Android beta testing program right now using your Google account. (Currently, only Pixel 2, 3, 3a, and 4 users are allowed.)

Each beta version of Android is supposedly a hint of what lies ahead. If you download the Android 11 beta, you are accepting the substandard software and buggy performance contract with third-party apps. But in return, you’ll be one of the first to gain access to new features such as an updated Android 11 notification shade, a centralized power menu, and more granular permission controls.
