Donate to These Anti-Racism and Mental Health Organizations
In addition to physical abuse associated with systemic racism, it also has serious mental health consequences. Generations of collective trauma are now combined with anxiety not only of the threat of police violence, but also of the fear of being caught in the midst of a global pandemic that disproportionately affects people of color.
“Black people are experiencing unprecedented trauma,” Dr. Ebony White , assistant professor of clinical counseling and family therapy at Drexel University, told the Philadelphia Inquirer . “When we see this injustice repeated over and over again, we see ourselves. Black people see themselves in George Floyd. Black mothers see their sons in Tamir Rice. “
If you don’t know how to help right now, here are some organizations that provide mental health services for people of color, as well as others that are working to close racial differences in health, all of which accept donations.
