How to Use QR Code to Add Friends to WhatsApp
QR codes are probably not something you use every day, but they are incredibly useful when you need them. If you are a big WhatsApp fan, you can now use QR Codes to import contacts into the app, or share your contact information with others. Setting up and using it is as easy as shelling pears – with one small caveat.
WhatsApp is currently testing the QR code feature, which means you won’t see it in the stable version of the app. You will need to subscribe to the beta version of WhatsApp – which is much easier on Android than on iOS – to play around with this fun feature, just like any other WhatsApp that will be tested in the near future.
Once you’ve signed up and updated to the beta version of the WhatsApp app, launch it. Click on the icon with three dots in the upper right corner and open the settings. You should see a tiny new QR-code-like icon to the right of your name:
Tap it and you will see this screen:
You are looking at your QR code. Pick it up if you want to share your WhatsApp data with someone else; they, in turn, will click on the Scan Code option to do just that. If you know how a QR code works, it should be easy. If you’re having trouble, make sure the code separator has fully increased the brightness of the screen. This will usually fix any problems you may encounter while scanning.
