How to Set up Flight Alerts on All Your Devices
Even the most experienced of us missed a flight or had the heartbreaking feeling of realizing that we were on the wrong exit and you have three minutes to find the right one. But this should never happen if you’ve set up flight alerts to help make your trip as comfortable as possible.
Flight Alerts allow you to sync your flight information with the calendar of any device, receive a notification the day before your flight departs, and receive alerts informing you if your flight is delayed or canceled. They can also keep you informed of any gate changes, which is great if you’ve been busy shopping at the duty free shop, packing up your lunch or using the toilet before your flight.
Use Google as your guide
Google Assistant makes it easy to enter and find trip information. It can be downloaded to your phone ( iOS , Android ) and synchronized with any smart device (laptop, TV, watch or smart speaker ). To use Google Assistant, you need to have a Gmail account, which is easy to set up if you don’t have one. Once you’ve downloaded Google Assistant, turn on Personal Results . This will personalize the results you get when you enter your query on Google, allowing you to display flight information from your Gmail, calendar, or Google photos.
When you first load the app, it will ask if you want to receive notifications, including alerts, sounds and icons; you will want to select “allow” to receive these push notifications. The assistant will also ask for Bluetooth connection permission so you can connect your accessories, including headphones and speakers.
Existing booking
With Google Assistant Alerts and Personal Results, you can:
- See and hear the date, time, departure, destination and airline of your next trip.
- See and hear about time / delay condition.
You will be able to hear information about three upcoming flights. With the microphone icon selected, you can ask or enter a query using the keyboard icon. And the answer will be either verbal or printed, depending on the setting you choose.
You can also set an alert:
- Clicking on your profile icon
- We select “services”, then “reminders”.
- Add a reminder indicating the day, time, location and repeating the reminder more than once
Looking for flights
Personal Results only work for existing flights; however, you can still search for flights and check them by region, date, specific airline and specific destination.
Just hold the microphone icon in Google Assistant and start asking “Ok Google” or “Ok Google” and then ask your exact question. Or you can use the keyboard icon to enter a question.
