It’s Time to Wash the Doors
You are vacuuming. You are dust. From time to time you catch a bee in the hood and decide to wash the windows. And right now, you’re probably taking extra care of cleaning your door handles and light switches .
But wait – come back to the door just a minute. When was the last time you wiped your interior doors? Have you ever done this?
You can quickly wipe the handle on both sides of your interior doors – bedrooms, bathrooms, toilets. But the next time you make your rounds, take a damp cloth and wipe down the doors . You know the flat part. The door part.
You will be surprised what accumulates here: dust. Hairspray residues. The total dirt is nowhere.
I confess I have never washed a door. But that changed recently when I noticed something on the outside of my bathroom door. My best guess was that the last time I tinted the roots was over two months ago, hair dye splashed on me.
But I didn’t dwell on the reason for too long: I lightly sprayed the door with a gentle surface cleaner and carefully examined it with a rag.
The next thing I remember is that I knocked down all the doors in the house in order to quickly look around. I made a part around the doorknob that can get dirty. I made the lower part of the front door, which I usually close behind me with my foot if my hands are busy. I made the tops of the doors that rarely close.
The amount of stealth junk I received from my doors was satisfactory.
The cleaning enthusiast will advise you not to stop there. For the same level of satisfaction (and maybe even more), you can erase all the walls. You can bring a rag to the baseboards, climbing into all those nooks and crannies that your vacuum cleaner can’t even reach.
But wiping down walls takes time, and if you have a lot of them … good. This may take a minute. And to get to the skirting boards, you need to move furniture and bend to do your job well.
But doors? Your doors are right there. You can do them all in five minutes. This is a cure for something that you didn’t think you needed to clean, but you really should.
