What’s in Lyft’s New COVID-19 Policy
Following news that Uber will require passengers and drivers to wear masks , Lyft also changed its travel policy, requiring passengers and drivers to wear face masks alike. However, Lyft went further than its policy by introducing several additional requirements.
In particular, riders must agree not to ride in the front seat of a vehicle, and drivers must agree to keep their vehicle windows open whenever possible.
Now, when you go to request a ride on Lyft, you will be prompted to confirm that you are wearing a face mask and are not experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19. Likewise, the app will ask drivers to confirm that they are wearing a face mask before agreeing to ride and agree to keep their cars clean and disinfect their hands frequently.
Lyft has also temporarily suspended shared rides wherever available, so you’ll also only be making this ride with the driver and the people you ride with, not strangers.
Lyft states that anyone who disagrees with the personal health certificate and new rules through the in-app form that is currently being rolled out in the app will not be able to request a ride or ride with Lyft during this time.
Like Uber, Lyft also pledges money to buy safety gear for drivers. To date, the company says it has spent an estimated $ 2.5 million on hundreds of thousands of bottles of hand sanitizer, masks and disinfectants that have been offered free of charge to drivers.
