Delta Suspends Flights to These 10 US Airports
Most of us probably have no plans to fly anytime soon. If you have plans to do this and those plans include Delta, you may need to make some changes.
On Friday, the airline announced it would suspend operations at 10 airports in the United States until at least September. In particular, it will no longer serve:
- Chicago Midway International Airport (MDW)
- Oakland International Airport (OAK)
- Hollywood Burbank Airport (BUR)
- Long Beach Airport (LGB)
- TF Green International Airport (PVD)
- Westchester County Airport (HPN)
- Stewart International Airport (SWF)
- Akron-Canton Airport (CAK)
- Manchester-Boston Regional Airport (MHT)
- Newport News / Williamsburg International Airport (PHF)
The service will be suspended from 13 May, so if you have any scheduled flights later, you may need to make some changes. Delta says it will re-accommodate passengers affected by the suspension of service.
All airports considered are located in markets with another major airport serving Delta nearby. For example, while Delta will not serve the Oakland airport, it will still serve the San Francisco airport, which is relatively close.
And if you do fly, remember that you will also need a face mask when traveling. Delta, along with a number of other airlines, recently announced that all passengers on board, as well as in the check-in lobby, Delta Sky Club, boarding gates and on the bridge, will be required to cover their faces.
