Daniel Radcliffe Reads Harry Potter to Us
One thing we’ve learned from this pandemic is that we really enjoy having celebrities read to us. Actor Josh Gad was one of the first (and still does!). Then, American hero LeVar Burton stepped forward to bring stories to life for children, youth and adults. And now Harry Potter himself begins reading the first Harry Potter book, which is proof that life is not as bad as it could be.
If you’ve been waiting for the right moment to introduce your kids to Harry Potter, it may have happened now that Daniel Radcliffe and other celebrities have committed to taking turns reading Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone to us . And if your kids are already Harry Potter fans, this is a good reason to start reading the series again or get them involved by creating and submitting their own original illustrations that could potentially be presented in the next chapter reading.
Radcliffe, who plays Harry Potter in the eight-part film, kicked off the first chapter of The Boy Who Lived on Tuesday. New chapters will be released weekly on the Harry Potter At Home website and free on Spotify and Spotify Kids .
Stephen Fry, David Beckham, Dakota Fanning, Claudia Kim, Noma Dumezveni and Eddie Redmayne are among other future storytellers, along with special appearances “from all over the wizarding world and beyond.”
While you are on the Harry Potter Home website, there will be “Chapter Challenges ” in which children can participate after listening to each new chapter to “earn home points” and “complete their secret quest”. The site is also full of other wizard-themed activities and games to keep Potter fans busy while at home.
