Post It Blow up Your Mom on This Mother’s Day

Like everything else right now, Mother’s Day may not look the same as usual this year. There will be no big family gatherings, no brunch at your favorite local restaurant, no relaxing massage or pedicure. Chances are more stress than usual, either from financial or work stress, or from being at home with your 24-7 year old kids for almost two months in a row. But there is a nice (and free!) Way to make Mother’s Day special this year for your partner or your own mom: with Post-it Note stickers.

The idea comes from Popsugar Senior Editor Caitlin Gallagher, who teamed up with her sister last year to cover nearly every surface of her mom’s house – closets, closets, walls – with sticker messages detailing the specific reasons they love her. … Gallagher explains:

To make sure this all makes sense, we hung the very first sticker in front of her bedroom door that said, “Happy Mother’s Day Mom! If you want to know all the reasons why we love you, go downstairs. ” She was then greeted with colorful posters in the hallway, on the stairs, on the front window, throughout the kitchen, on toilet doors, on picture frames, on fireplaces, and more. Posters ranged from simple things like “Because you can never give up a good margarita” to more specific flashbacks like “Because you invited Mickey and Minnie to visit me in our hotel room in Disneyland when I was sick.” And we touched on both the good and the bad, for example: “Because you kept my first tattoo a secret from dad” and “Because you know when something is wrong, as soon as you hear my voice.”

Gallagher and her sister even forced their husbands to write their own memoirs, and the result was a collection of notes detailing 30 years of motherhood.

It’s a great idea any year, but it’s especially perfect now when pampering is not only harder, but moms may need some extra emotional excitement.

Do you want to do it for your own mom or another special mother in your life who doesn’t live with you? If they are living with someone else, write the stickers right now, send them to that person and ask them to stick them for you.
